New laboratory wing reaches operational status

HERMANN, MISSOURI — Herzog Research Park has completed commissioning of a new flexible laboratory wing connected to Research Sector A. The expansion adds organization-neutral research space designed to support programs that require adaptable laboratory layouts, dedicated instrumentation rooms and close access to shared campus technical systems.

The new wing was planned around modular laboratory suites that can be configured for individual research teams or combined for larger programs. Core services include independent environmental zoning, laboratory gas distribution, monitored cold-storage capacity, secure data connectivity and direct access to sample receiving and technical support areas.

Designed for changing programs

Rather than assigning the entire wing to a single discipline, HRP developed the space to accommodate changing research requirements over time. Bench layouts, equipment zones and support rooms can be reconfigured without major alterations to the surrounding building systems, allowing the campus to support both established organizations and shorter-duration collaborative programs.

Commissioning included verification of environmental controls, life-safety systems, access controls, network infrastructure and utility performance under representative laboratory loads. Campus Operations will manage phased occupancy so that research groups can install specialized equipment while adjacent suites remain available for final configuration.

Part of a larger campus plan

The Research Sector A expansion is part of HRP’s ongoing program of infrastructure and laboratory development beneath Hermann. The campus is designed so new research capacity can be added without interrupting active programs elsewhere in the facility, with central utilities, service circulation and material receiving separated from primary research corridors.

Initial occupancy of the new wing will begin following program-specific equipment qualification. Additional laboratory suites will be released as commissioning and partner fit-out activities are completed.
